Vanna Fadda
Training and Education Manager
What I do at The Royal College of Ophthalmologists
I lead operational activities to ensure training services are delivered in an effective and member-focused manner.
I provide support and advice to educational stakeholders, resident doctors and locally employed doctors.
I quality-control the annual enrolment of resident doctors.
I safeguard the effectiveness of electronic platforms to document training progress, which are maintained by external software providers. As the ePortfolio lead, I am currently managing the project to replace the platform in August 2027.
I drive the development of training material relevant to the curriculum, the programme of assessment and the Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP) process.
I evaluate recommendations for completion of training certification to quality-audited standards set by the UK regulator (General Medical Council).
I manage the implementation of quality assurance and improvement frameworks to ensure that the programme of assessment provides robust evidence to inform training progression decisions.
